Amazon has reduced the price of a popular video doorbell camera by a whopping £50. It comes as part of the retailer's huge Black Friday sale.

And the Ring video doorbell will set you back just £49.99 - half the price of its usual £99.99. The home security device has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 on the shopping website with more than 70,500 reviews.

One shopper called it "indispensable." They added: "The Ring Doorbell has become an indispensable part of my home security setup. Its sleek design houses a powerful combination of convenience and safety.

"The ease of installation was a pleasant surprise, and the app's user-friendly interface makes monitoring my doorstep a breeze. The motion detection alerts and two-way communication feature provide a sense of control and security, even when I'm away.

"With crystal-clear video quality and reliable performance, the Ring Doorbell has truly elevated my home's safety, making it a top-notch investment for anyone prioritizing peace of mind."

Another person wrote: "I wasn't too sure about having these at the house, but combined with being able to see the footage anywhere live in your phone, i wouldn't live without it now. Just make sure that where you place the outdoor camera is near to your router, or else you may struggle with wifi signal, however mine works despite being outside and around 30ft away from the router."

A third said: "Can’t fault it, does the job it’s supposed to do. Just a shame about the monthly subscription which makes this the high end brand with the cheaper alternatives not only being cheaper to buy but having no monthly fee."

However, one person said that the alerts did not work well for them personally. They said: "It rarely sounds on mine and my wife's phone when pressed, and on the odd occasion that it does ring, it MINUTES after it's pressed.

"It alerts for motion detection when there's no one, no animals, no nothing there and on the odd occasion when there is someone there it's delayed to the point that they've left by the time it does.

"I've tried hard resetting it and every other option under the sun to get it to work without success. The only thing in its favour is the quality of the video when in live view."
