BBC Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton du Beke is releasing a second studio album – years after his debut bombed. Du Beke - one of four BBC Strictly Come Dancing judges used by the show - will record a new album, a follow-up to his debut six years ago.

The Strictly judge will be teaming up with Grammy-award winning producer Brian Rawlings on the new tracks. “What I am going to do at the beginning of next year is . . . I’m going to get into the studio with some of the guys from the band and we’re going to do a ‘sessions album,’ we’re going to give it a sessions feel," he said.

“You don’t put CDs out any more so we’ll put it out for download. It will be fun and we’ll film it.” On the Power Of Joy podcast, Anton explained: “A few years ago, we started to put together a Christmas album, but realised we had no time to promote and tour the album because I can’t do anything when I’m doing Strictly.

“So we put it to one side and we thought we’ll revisit that when we’ve got a bit more time.” Anton released his much-anticipated debut album ‘From The Top’ on Polydor nback in 2017 - but it was widely slated. Recorded mainly at The British Grove studios, the album features some old classics such as Putting on The Ritz and Me & My Shadow (a track that Du Beke originally performed with Bruce Forsyth on Strictly Series 6), plus a new twist on big hitter I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor plus original song Nothing But Love.

Writing a review on Amazon, one fan wrote: "Sorry Anton, stick to the dancing." A second typed: "I was tempted to get this for an older relative but thought it'd be best to sample it first. What on earth is going on this Christmas ? My ears can't unhear this monstrosity, alongside Manford, Knowles and Walsh the celebs have killed the festive season.

"As for the 5 star reviews ... The Beatles it ain't, his singing can't be compared to Adele or George Michael so where is all this glowing praise coming from ? And don't get me started on the Arctic Monkeys cover version."
