One strong contender for the prettiest place in the West Midlands is Ombersley, an idyllic village with beautiful black and white timber homes and stunning countryside. It's perhaps no surprise then that the village was recently named as one of the UK's best places to live in 2024 by lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos.

The places which made the cut were chosen for several different reasons, including having a thriving food scene, a buzzing high street, affordable property and nearby green spaces. Other communities which featured on the list include numerous suburbs in Birmingham, the celebrity village of Barnt Green and the town of Malvern.

Describing Ombersley, Muddy Stilettos wrote: "Crowned one of the top five poshest places to live in the UK in a recent poll for it’s quintessential village feel, Ombersley has an impressive CV – from great schools to stunning countryside on tap, and all a short dash from buzzing towns and cities". What Muddy Stilettos said

The lifestyle website wrote Ombersley retains "the look and feel of a quintessentially English village but with plenty of metro-buzz minutes away in Worcester". It continued: "It’s little wonder Ombersley is high up on many people’s wishlist.

"Crowned as one of the most beautiful places to live in the UK in a recent poll for it’s elegant black and white timbered heart, Ombersley has an impressive CV – great schools, a close community and stunning countryside and all this but a short dash from a choice of buzzing towns and cities. Property here, although not masses of it, is still fairly sensibly priced, making Ombersley bang on the money for families searching for a beautiful rural retreat with a bit of life about it."

The village has a decent number of shops and eateries but one particular popular spot that comes highly recommended is Checketts country deli, which boasts a butchers, deli, coffee shop and more. "Customer service is always on point, and the food is equally fantastic. Would 100 per cent recommend their breakfast and pizza!"

Another added: "Wonderful food, superb coffee, great atmosphere and really friendly staff. I would highly recommend and this will become a regular breakfast venue for us."

Once you've fuelled up with a hearty meal, you can check out the village's stunning views of the region's countryside between the Shropshire Hills area and the Malvern Hills, where visitors can fully embrace country living and take part in activities such as golf and fishing. The village has plenty of meadows and woodland to explore too while the River Severn and the beautiful riverside pubs in Holt Fleet are just a short drive away.

Hidden gem days out such as Witley Court and Little Owl Farm Park are just a short drive away too, as our hugely popular attractions such as West Midland Safari Park and Severn Valley Railway.
